Lowell Herb Co Launches First Social Use Cannabis Cafe In The US
Social use is on the menu at Lowell’s Cafe in West Hollywood
In a historic first, Santa Barbara based Lowell Herb Co. launched their social use cafe to the public yesterday in West Hollywood California to much fanfare. Lowell Cafe, located at 1201 N. La Brea, offers its visitors an upscale experience that, from the outside, looks like a normal trendy restaurant in Los Angeles. Once you get inside however you quickly realize this is much more than just a fantastic place on LA’s west side to eat lunch or dinner.
When a consumer typically thinks of social cannabis use, most would automatically think of the coffeeshops of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. At Hall of Flowers, Lowell’s Chief of Staff, AJ Fay, said when being compared to Amsterdam’s social use scene, “Most coffeeshops are not what we’re presenting at the Lowell Cafe. This is an upscale experience. I think it’s approachable in terms of price, but the dining experience is upscale just because of the qualities we use. There’s so many metal rails, reclaimed woods, and plants but that’s just because it’s staying true to Lowell, not because it’s supposed to be exclusive and Hollywood. I think people will be surprised by what a public consumption space means to us.”
Lowell has created something special in Lowell Cafe. With only limited social use currently in certain areas nothing has quite comes close yet to what Lowell Herb Co. has managed to accomplish. For cannabis, the flower menu consisted of selections from Lowell but also had fine offers from brands such as 22Red, 710 Labs, and LA Kush as well as a full line of extracts. All purchases went through Lowell Cafe’s POS system COVA Software. Lowell also had accessories that you can rent for free, in case you forgot your rolling papers or Puffco Peak at home.
