California Company Sues Tennessee Sheriff For $3.9M Over Seizure Of Legal Hemp

The complaint alleges that deputies disregarded documentation
A California hemp company is suing the Madison County Sheriff’s Department after deputies allegedly illegally seized and destroyed nearly $4 million worth of legal hemp products during a traffic stop.
The suit, filed by Litson PLLC, on behalf of California Gold Farms LLC, alleges that the deputies unlawfully seized about 1,000 pounds of legal hemp flower being transported to processing facilities in other states.
The complaint alleges that deputies disregarded documentation showing the hemp was legal but relied solely on smell to identify the product as marijuana.
