Hemp Companies and Coalition Team Up In Lawsuit Filed Against TN Department Of Agriculture

A court date has been set for the lawsuit on September 19th
The Tennessee Growers Coalition along with Gold Spectrum and other entities have joined a lawsuit against the Tennessee Department of Agriculture claiming they did not follow proper protocol when finalizing new rules on THC and hemp-driven products.
The lawsuit claims that the state had plenty of time to finalize the new rules on THC and hemp-driven products, which were supposed to go into effect in July; but, the state ran out of time and filed emergency rules.
“When departments write rules, they have to follow the Uniform Administrative Procedural Act. And the Department of Agriculture didn’t do that,” said Kelley Hess, Executive Director of the Tennessee Growers Coalition. “In order to file emergency rules, there must be some mistake and it can’t be just because you ran out of time.”
