Dallas City Council Is Banning Vaping In Public Spaces
The ban will go into effect Dec. 11, 2025
Vaping will no longer be allowed in public and enclosed spaces such as bars, workplaces and other areas deemed no-smoking zones.
The Dallas City Council updated its 2003 ban on smoking in public places to include e-cigarettes Wednesday. The ban will go into effect Dec. 11, 2025.
The move comes a year after the city’s environmental commission evaluated studies and recommended banning vapes “after determining a correlation between vaping aerosol exposure and negative health effects for vulnerable populations.”
John Palmer, with the American Lung Association, spoke in favor of the change and said the update was crucial to protecting public health. He highlighted research on the negative impact of secondhand smoke or exposure to chemicals found in e-cigarettes, which can cause irreversible lung damage.
