Arkansas To Restrict Certain Vape Sales Under New Law

Act 590, will soon limit the sale of certain vape products

A new Arkansas law, Act 590, will soon limit the sale of certain vape products across the state. The legislation targets closed system, single-use disposable vape products and e-liquid products containing nicotine. Under the law, vendors can only sell products authorized or under review by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA).

“There are products from across the world that are being sold at these retailers and frankly we don’t know what’s in them,” said Scott Hardin, spokesperson for Arkansas Tobacco Control (ATC).

In May, ATC informed permit holders that some of their inventory would soon be illegal. “If it’s not on that list, retailers can’t have it. They just simply can’t sell it,” Hardin said. He added that ATC will publish a list of approved products, noting that the FDA has only authorized 39 e-cigarette products.
