Mesquite Texas Cracks Down On Smoke Shops

The amendment will go into effect March 1
Mesquite will soon require special permits to sell smoking paraphernalia and will place stricter limits on where certain pipes that are often used to consume illegal drugs can be sold.
Any shop that sells paraphernalia must be at least 500 feet from residential areas, schools and churches, according to the measure adopted by the city council this week. Sales will only be permitted in commercial or industrial areas within the city and will no longer be allowed in general retail districts.
