Glass Blowers’ “Hearts for Healthcare” Campaign To Fund 3D Printed PPE

Family run glass blowing studio Kingston Glass Studio & Gallery launched a campaign on Tuesday to help raise money for the creation of 3D printed PPE that is being given to frontline healthcare workers in the Kingston area.
After hearing that Queen’s University was starting to create 3D printed PPE, they partnered with Queen’s medical students – who have already produced more than 600 masks – by launching their campaign to raise money for the raw materials required to make the masks.
“There is a gap in the amount of PPE available to frontline healthcare workers in Kingston, and we wanted to help in some way,” said co-owner and glass artist Mariel Waddell Hunter. “We wanted to find a way to raise money for the initiative, but also provide a way for people to say thanks to frontline workers here in Kingston that are putting themselves at risk every day to keep our city going.”
