Ban On Flavored Vapes, Cigars And Menthol Cigarettes Proposed In Michigan
Hookah lounges are an exception
Lawmakers are proposing a ban on all flavored tobacco products in the state.
It’s part of an effort to combat the continued surge in youth nicotine use.
The bills would ban the sale of flavored nicotine vapes and cigars as well as menthol cigarettes in Michigan. It appears the ban would also extend to flavored dipping tobacco, but bill sponsor state Rep. Stephanie Young, D-Detroit, did not immediately return a request for clarification.
Naturally flavored cigars and cigarettes, and tobacco-flavored vapes, would remain legal. However, popular smaller flavored cigars, like Swisher Sweets, would be banned.
Hookah lounges are an exception and could continue to offer flavored tobacco for usage on the premises but not for sale to take home.
