Alabama Hemp Retailers Reopen After Months-Long Licensing Delay
“Going through the licensing process was purely a nightmare”
Hemp retailers across Alabama are returning to normal operations after a months-long licensing process required by the state.
Ocean Jones, owner of Healthy Harvest, said his business was shut down for four months while awaiting state approval after House Bill 445 shifted oversight of hemp products to the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board and required full licensure to operate.
“Going through the licensing process was purely a nightmare,” Jones said.
Jones said the closure brought his business to the brink of financial collapse.
“It was terrible. We almost lost everything. You have 10s of thousands of costs while getting zero income. It was hard to say the least,” he said.
