Glass-Blowing Studio OK’d On Site Of ‘World’s Smallest’ Skate Shop In Carlsbad CA

The Elm Street Boardshop opened less than a year ago

A proposed glass-blowing studio and retail art gallery got the all-clear this week for construction on the site of what some said was briefly the world’s smallest skateboard shop in downtown Carlsbad.

The Elm Street Boardshop opened less than a year ago in what was formerly a Bank of America drive-by ATM kiosk on Roosevelt Street, just south of Carlsbad Village Drive, which was called Elm Avenue until about 20 years ago.

The proposed Barrio Glassworks project and the skateboard shop both have strong support within their respective communities. For a few weeks the competing business owners battled for the right to inhabit the Roosevelt Street property, each collecting signatures and enlisting residents’ support.
