CHAMPS Breaks New Ground In Chicago

Join us October 29th through the 31st in the Windy City

At the end of October, the Midwest cannabis industry will finally get to experience a CHAMPS Trade Show. Over the course of twenty years, CHAMPS has expanded its reach from Las Vegas to Atlantic City, Orlando and Denver. Finally, the heartland will be introduced to a major cannabis business event when doors open at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago on Oct. 29th. The show runs through Oct. 31st.

In June, Illinois became the 11th state in the U.S. to legalize the recreational use and purchase of marijuana when Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the bill into law. Illinois residents who are 21 and older can now possess up to 30 grams of cannabis flower, 5 grams of concentrate and 500 milligrams of THC in products such as edibles. The criminal records of 800,000 people will be expunged as well.

Although actual legalization in Illinois doesn’t take effect until January 1, 2020, business owners are already seeing green. Annual sales figures of $2.5 billion in sales are already being projected, while the Chicago-based cannabis research firm Brightfield Group paints an even rosier picture.

The Brightfield report states that, currently, the top five cannabis markets are located west of the Mississippi, with Colorado, Oregon and Washington making up 42 percent of total U.S. sales. Sales in Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey and New York together make up 11 percent. But by 2023, those market shares are expected to flip, Brightfield predicts, with the eastern states making up 34 percent of the market, and the western states dropping to 20 percent. California is expected to remain on top, with one-fifth of total demand. But Illinois and Michigan are expected to rival Colorado and Nevada.

Jeff Hirschfeld, president of CHAMPS Trade Shows, anticipates a highly successful debut show in Chicago. “Chicago’s a hub,” he explains. “Michigan, which also has legalized recreational cannabis, is close by. Milwaukee is only 80 miles north. Attitudes toward cannabis are changing rapidly in the Midwest and the industry is growing just as fast.”

Obviously, CHAMPS couldn’t have chosen a more opportune time to host the Midwest cannabis business scene. Company owners who need to network, grow their business, or find respected wholesalers and distributors will find CHAMPS to be a blessing. Whether it’s CBD, vape technology, financial services or the wide world of smoking accouterments, CHAMPS delivers the industry the retail scene.

CHAMPS’ roots, of course, are in the glass scene and has always been at the forefront of promoting functional art glass and the craftsmanship required to produce it. Thousands of glass pieces are on display at exhibitor booths, from the simplest hand pipe to the most ornate waterpipe you could possibly imagine. Also, the Chicago CHAMPS Trade Show will present the final installment of the Glass Games, a yearlong competition of top glass artists. Artists are being asked to either consider one of two themes for their creations—the Chicago sports world or Halloween. Either theme guarantees stunning glass art produced by the Glass Games competitors.

Make plans to be at the Chicago CHAMPS trade Show today. If you strive to be on the cutting edge of the cannabis industry, CHAMPS will be sure to accommodate you!
