Arizona State Bans Vaping On Campus

The university announced that the ban would begin on July 1st

Attention, Juul users at Arizona State University: Soon, you won’t be able to vape on campus anymore. ASU announced on Friday the university would add vaping to its campus-wide tobacco ban starting on July 1.

The updated policy posted online includes “electronic smoking devices,” which the policy defines as “devices that simulate smoking through inhalation of vapor or aerosol from the device, including e-cigarettes, e-cigars, e- pipes, vape pens, and all forms of smoking tobacco.”

The ban will apply to all university property, including buildings ASU owns or leases, grounds, parking garages, and university-owned vehicles. The only exceptions are in privately owned vehicles on public roads and at leased university dorms that allow smoking.

In a campus-wide email on Friday, ASU Chief Financial Officer Morgan Olsen and Provost Mark Searle announced the vaping ban. The email said the university is “dedicated to providing a healthy, comfortable and productive learning environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.”
